the backyard bride #38

This beautiful bride Amy and her husband Kevin are a West Virginia couple. Their gorgeous wedding reflects everything about themselves as a couple, especially as the couple decided to host an eleborate but modest backyard wedding.

We use the words elaborate but modest because although their wedding is full of gorgeous detailing and wonderful decorations, they were all actually handmade by the bride and groom. We found some great tips for if DIY decoration is something you want to experiment with on your own wedding day. You could use your new found craft skills to make anything from flower arrangements to wedding favours! Perhaps, if you’re feeling even more adventurous you could even try making your outfit accessories (Our Beach Bride from a while back had her maid of honour make her headpiece and veil!)

There is something gorgeously precious about backyard weddings and I think this couple capture that magic perfectly. Everything about their day seems so laid back, relaxed and natural – which is exactly how the couple intended it to be.

The lovely photographs in this post were taken by Michel and Heather, a married couple of wedding photographers based in Pittsburgh. Their business is called One Way Street Productions. Michel and Heather love giving their photographs a quirky photojournalism feel, and by doing so create gorgeous images like the ones above! You can find their website here, and their facebook page here.
